Acually, The article came into this blog because when i was updating nokia 8's system software, nokia 8 device was unable to boot, every time when i try to boot the device only the nokia logo goes on blinking with black screen. So I researched about it for more than 2-3 hours, and finally i have learned to use manual tools for firmware update. Before learning nokia's firmware manual update tools you must play with your own risk.
Nokia Online Service Tools (OST LA 6.0.4) PC Software
You can download the Nokia's PC Software, Online Serveice Tool(OST), from the link given below. OST is used to install or flash the firmware on nokia android handset's manually, so that you can simply download the firmware for your Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 8 and Nokia 9 (though yet to release) and flash when you want to. You can install firmwares prior than it is available automatically, When big updates are out, it takes more than a weeks or it will not be available to your phone because of technical issues.

How to use Nokia OST to install firmware on your Phone.
- First of all you must have firmware for your device. you can download it from the link Nokia 8 for Nokia 8.
- Download OST PC Software and OST Patch from the link given above.
- Extract both the OST PC Software and OST patch and extract it. The password for the Patch is 123.
- Use launcher.exe from the OST PC Software package to install on your PC.
- Now, copy the .exe file from OST patch (filename: OnlineUpdateTool.exe) and paste it into OST’s installation folder on your PC. The installation folder could be at this location folder C:\Program Files (x86)\OST LA (or folder C:\Program Files\OST LA). You have to replace the OnlineUpdateTool.exe file already there with one from the patch folder.
- Then delete the OnlineUpdateTool.exe.config file in the installation folder.
- Now, double click the OnlineUpdateTool file to runt he Nokia OST software.
- Select the Firmware file in the format of .nb0.
- Boot your Nokia device into download mode. For this, power off your Nokia device, connect it to PC with USB cable (you will see charging icon on phone), and now press and hold Volume down and Power button simultaneously for about 5 seconds. Keep your device connected to PC.
- You should now see the ‘Edit Phone Information’ button on the Nokia OST software and press the button , and it may give an error but dont worry just proceed.
- And finally you will find next button active, click on that then your firmware installation will begin.
